noir editions was founded on the belief that while digital photography is magic, archival prints are a legacy worth keeping
The magic of the digital era for photography has been, of course, the immediacy of having all our imagery right at our fingertips. Sadly, we so often forget what we have seen – even just today – we are inundated with endless visuals. Why would our audience remember seeing our work?
Print, on the other hand, is so very different. We choose what to include on a finite page, or even a set of pages. We cull it, edit it down, curate it. We decide what legacy we’re going to leave upon an indelible exhibition print or page, and then commit pigment to paper.
Photographers’ works are often very personal. They can be the windows into the worlds they see, or reflections of themselves juxtaposed to those worlds. But photos are always one thing above all – fleeting moments that will not, cannot ever happen again. It’s for that reason we’re so committed to helping photographers print a legacy of themselves and their lives through their work – to allow those photographers to become eternal.
We do all of this with the finest museum-grade, archival materials we have found over decades of experience – pigments & papers that produce prints that will last for centuries – along with the mats, frames, and glass that will protect those prints. We hope you will join us and leave your legacy for those who follow for the centuries to come.
